The total solar eclipse of August 21, 2017 is called the “Great American Eclipse” with good reason. Total eclipses of the sun are very rare, but in this extraordinary eclipse, the path of totality will sweep across the entire U.S. with partial phases visible from everywhere in this country. On Long Island about 70% of the Sun will be covered at maximum. Join Dr. Michal Simon, Professor Emeritus and Research Professor with Stony Brook University, to learn why this eclipse is so special and how to view it safely from Long Island.
