Have you ever noticed the line of shells and seaweed running along the sand that is left behind by the high tide? That’s called the wrack line, and it’s full of interesting things that you probably never even knew were there. Join a Fire Island National Seashore Park Ranger at FINS Smith Point to learn about the fascinating aquatic life that washes up on shore. 

Participate in a Wrack Line Scavenger Hunt and see what you can find. 

We will meet at the FINS building at the west end of the park. Please park in the regular beach parking lot. There is no charge to park after 5:00 PM. We will be getting sandy, so please dress appropriately! Wear bug spray! 

Because we want to make sure as many children as possible get to attend our programs, spots are guaranteed for those who are registered only if they check in when the program is scheduled to begin.  The waiting list that you may sign up for is used to fill cancellations before the program.  Once the program begins, openings are filled on a first-come basis, not off of the waiting list.    If you cannot attend please call  631-399-1511 ext. 262 so another child/family can take your place.
